‘Heal’ the country by heeding advice of experienced physicians, not bureaucrats

Los Angeles, CA – In his address to the nation from Wilmington, Delaware tonight, Joe Biden called on Americans to “unify” and “heal” after a difficult presidential season. Among other things, he alluded to his announcement this Monday of a brand-new coronavirus task force consisting of Democratic campaign advisors and ex-administration officials – none of whom are treating COVID-infected patients on the front lines of the pandemic.

Dr. Simone Gold, MD, JD, a board-certified emergency physician and founder of America’s Frontline Doctors, tonight released the following statement in response:

“To defeat the virus, Joe Biden’s rhetoric must be accompanied by concrete action guided by medical science. Mask mandates aren’t a strategy and lockdowns can cost thousands of additional lives.

“Biden’s new 12-member coronavirus task force must be led by front-line doctors who are actively treating coronavirus patients in the field. Bureaucrats and political insiders will not be able to develop the aggressively holistic strategy we need to advance both preventative care and treatment.

“As someone who has successfully treated COVID-infected patients, I’m urging Biden and his task force to listen to the advice of emergency doctors and other front-line physicians, make early treatment options available to Americans over the counter, focus our protection efforts on at-risk groups, and stop politicizing medical science for partisan advantage.”
